TomTom is one of the best GPS programs around, with clear directions, good maps, and an intuitive interface. However, it’s not available to buy for your PDA in Australia. This is a real shame, since there are so many GPS-enabled phones available nowadays, such as my Dopod U1000.
Well, it turns out that it is actually possible to get a copy of TomTom in Australia. You can grab a copy of the software itself straight from their website - you just have to buy the maps. To buy the Australian map, click “Maps” on the left of their home page, then “Buy Now”. Select “NAVIGATOR 6″ as your product, then “Map of Australia”, and then go through the usual checkout process. It’ll cost you $150, which is a pretty good deal for such a useful program.

We are going hiking in Arizona. I have a mobile car tom tom. Can I get maps to insert so I can use it as a field GPS navigation device?

I have a Mio a501 pda phone, I bought it in the internet for $650.00 and when I tried to update the second time just crashed, and I can’t get in to the gps any more. I have tomtom program on it, and I would like to buy a tomtom map in AUS. What I dont understain, for some reason when I look in the tomtom part, the
sat.signal never com up. I would like to buy a true tomtom map just to keep used in Australia, just I am not shure if it will work. If anyone could help me what to do with this it would be great. Tank’s Tamas Tassonyi.

Tom Tom is s t the repair mob wont even reply to calls or emails. Sent both units off for repair both came back with different versions of the maps. All speed limits were way out of wack, Thge main highway through the Hunter Region comes up as 60 not the 80s and 100s. Even after you have manually corrected it, when you update weekly or fortnightly the speed limits revert back to the horse and carriage days, around where I live Tom Tom says the limit is 50k not the 100. The Newcastle expressway was 60 and 80 k, my we are backward. Regents Park is hopeless.
