Google gives us street maps ... to a point
Australia's finally on the map. Google Maps, that is. Yes, overnight Google's given us (and New Zealand) a new mapping layer that at last provides access to street maps. Which means more mash-ups.
Unfortunately, as yet there's no search capability, and the maps don't seem to be up to date. Which means we'll continue to look elsewhere for our online street directory.

I discovered this yesterday and thought I'd have a look around Perth (where I live). I discovered 15 errors within about 20 minutes of looking around and have emailed these to the people who provide the data for Google.

Poedgirl,
I hope this is NOT your car. (You need to switch the map to satellite view and zoom in a couple of steps)

Windows Live Local now offers full point to point driving directions for Australia (Everywhere I have tried so far)
You can also see a 'quick' map of a couple of Melbourne computer shops I put in a map here
I have posted some screenshots in the forum here
