Bleeding Edge is about to move, and grow
Sorry about the relatively light posting, but we are preparing for a move to a new server with a lot more space and bandwidth - which will allow us finally to separate the forum from the blog, and prevent those desultory hijacks - and we're also finalising a bit of a re-design.
We'll have some tabs which we hope will make the whole thing more approachable, and we'll probably include a subscribers' only section. (Going to have to talk to Wilbert about that one, which we should have done ages ago, but as usual, we've been distracted.)
Let's know if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see, and, of course, if you'd like to subscribe (so we can pay for all this), please feel free. Just drop us an email, and we'll send you the details.

Charles, you should have an easy one step point for people to subscribe to/ I ended up doing it via Pay Pal because I could nto find details for doing it directly to you, or which email address to send a request to.

i'd like to see your recommendations from each month's computer mags, an idea that you mentioned a column or two ago. maybe they could be subscriber-only + archived on the site.
have you thought about some sort of link with MSY, eg, buyers from MSY receive free BE subscription; subscribers receive discounts on parts featured on the blog?
i'd also find it useful if there was a dedicated links section, listing other reputable/more in-depth computing news/review sites.

If the style of modern government is to campaign continuously then we might be needing some continuing political commentary too, like the sort we get around here in the lead up to elections. In the early days of this blog we used to get political analysis and commentry on a range of issues. Also, when outrages of government are revealed it is worthwhile and illuminating to have their details examined in spaces like this blog. Some refreshing views and comments were presented here which made it a real treat to drop in. It's not as vibrant having coverage narrowed to infotech issues, and it conceals the gamut of CW's ability.
On subscribing, we're only getting used to Bleeding Edge columns getting delivered as email messages on a subscription basis. Are we now going to have a pay wall for the blog? Not sure that I entirely appreciate where all this is headed. What sort of "business model" have you in mind? Is a Bleeding Edge blog empire on the drawing board? It could get very interesting if the talents of many writers were on tap, more like an online magazine than a blog. Like many others, I'm curious to see what kind of changes are proposed. Will there be any previews?

The question is fair enough, Ablaze. The answer is that there won't be a pay wall for the blog or the forum. They will remain free. Unfortunately because it is free, there's not a lot of interest from other contributors.
Eventually there will be a separate section for subscribers, which seems reasonable to me, given that their financial support subsidises the time I put in to the blog and the other unpaid activities that I tend to get involved in.
As for writing about politics: I'm never sure how many people like to see it, and how many people absolutely hate it.
