The OTHER blog
For the past few weeks, Bleeding Edge has been blogging away on that other blog we mentioned ... the one we're going to be paid for. We're still not allowed to show it to you, but it's scheduled to launch on June 1. At which point you'll see what we've been spending quite a lot of our time on.
It's been an interesting - and not entirely satisfactory - experience, blogging into a vacuum. It's convinced us that blogging really IS a conversation. And a conversation requires responses.

Comments
It's not only comments that make it a good experience. I don't get a lot of comments on my blog, but I can see from the stats that people are reading it. I would like to hear more back from them and I'm working on that. Nevertheless, knowing that people are reading what you write makes a big difference.

Chris' point raises the question Charles, what happened to the Bleeding Edge stats?

The stats became pretty pointless when we split the forum from the blog because it was slowing things down too much. The figures that were appearing werre nowhere near what was actually going on.
Then when we moved to Movable Type, we found it difficult to get the stats into the templates. We'll probably be able to work that out some time.
Traffic has been increasing steadily over the past few months. This week, for instance, we've crossed the 2000 discrete users mark, and have been running at 2300 individual sessions per day pretty well all week.
It will be interesting to see what effect the new blog has on the figures. At this rate, we should be able to get some display ads on the site, which would relieve the financial pressure. At the moment, we're just about breaking even.
