Gmail resources?

Bleeding Edge has been re-evaluating Gmail, and we have to say it's pretty impressive. We're thinking of doing a story on it, but the problem is, of course, that it requires an invitation. We wonder if anyone might be able to point us towards any sources of Gmail invites.

a few months ago i was in a similar situation and signed up to a couple of sites (the isnoop.net gmail invite spooler at http://isnoop.net/gmailomatic.php/ and various offers of invites at a gmail discussion group whose url i've lost).

however, that seems a bit unnecessary these days as google recently became more generous with issuing invites. i've sent one to blog@bleedingedge.com.au

i think it's a peerless service. after 5 months of testing it, i've abandoned yahoo and outlook and now manage all of my email via the gmail site. there's an option to stick with a pop client, and a prog that uploads pre-gmail mail into gmail.

Charles, email me: danielbowen at gmail.com and I'll send you an invitation.

oh, now I getcha. You're after places where your readers can get an invitation. This site appears to offer invitations to people who want them:
http://www.highwayman.org/gmail/
... there may be others too.

I'll send you an invite if you like, or do you mean a site where you can get an invite if you don't know anyone with Gmail?

Whew! Many thanks to you all. I do have one for myself - bleeblog at gmail.com but I wanted to be able to respond to readers who might want to get themselves an account after the story appears.

It seems pretty lame to say, "By the way, you'll have to find someone to send you an invitation."

the gmail invite spooler at isnoop.net is pretty much the definitive invite source.

Either refer them to the isnoop web site, or bring people here, where I'm sure I could fix plenty up. I've got 50 invites at the moment.

A quick and easy place to go is; http://www.bytetest.com/
Also a good place to share any excess invitations you may have.

I have 6 to give away. If anyone would like one, email me at tony dot collis at gmail dot com (address spelt out to stop the spambots).

I just tried out the address Daniel suggested and got my Gmail all sorted in about 10 minutes, The site says that it has over 15,000 invitations available. The address is http://www.highwayman.org/gmail/

jc-can you elaborate on the program that uploads pregmail emails to gmail?

I had two dud invites sent to me by the highwayman site, but the isnoop site worked first time.

Thanks everyone for the info.
